Instructions for Lid Scrubs

  • Twice a day, wet a washcloth with comfortably warm water, wring it out, and place over your closed eyelids for a minute. Re-wet it as it cools, two or three times. This will soften or loosen any scales or debris that may reside on the eyelids
  • Soak the washcloth in a mild soapy solution such as baby shampoo. Using your finger covered with the washcloth, gently scrub the base of the lashes for about 15 seconds per lid. You can use scrub pads as an alternative. Using scrub pads, gently scrub the base of the lashes for about 15 seconds per lid. Commercial lid scrub pads are in your packet.
POST OP INSTRUCTIONS
  • Do not rub or touch your eyes.
  • Go home and sleep as long as possible immediately following your surgery.
  • It is normal to experience eye pain, watering, and light sensitivity after PRK. You may feel better if you rest in a darkened room for the remainder of the day. Resting will lessen these symptoms.
  • An ice pack placed over your eye may reduce some discomfort. Apply the ice pack for 10 minutes, then repeat as necessary.
  • If the contact lens the Physician put on your eye falls out, do not try to replace it, dispose of the contact.
  • Avoid getting water directly in your eyes when showering.
  • Avoid swimming and hot tubs.
  • Avoid driving for the first 48 hours. Drive only if you feel confident with your vision. Your vision may fluctuate for the first several weeks, so use good judgement.
  • Take your pain medication as needed
