Dr. Chalmers graduated with Honors from the University of California at Davis with a B.S. in Biochemistry. After obtaining an M.S. degree in Biochemistry from the University of Oregon, he completed Medical School, Internship in Family Practice and Residency in Ophthalmology at Oregon Health Sciences University.

Dr. Chalmers' interests in Ophthalmology include cataract surgery, laser vision correction surgery and eyelid surgeries. He also does routine exams, glasses and contact lens care. He has been with EyeHealth Northwest since completing his training in 1987.

Dr. Chalmers is a past president of the Clackamas County Medical Society and past chairman of the board of Vision Northwest, a non-profit agency serving those with vision loss. Dr. Chalmers is currently on the board of directors of Amigos de las Americas, a non-profit organization that sponsors summer service projects for teenagers in Latin America. He is also a frequent volunteer for Northwest Medical Teams in Oaxaca, Mexico where for the last 10 years he has been performing eye surgery on indigent patients.
