Patient Coordinator
We are seeking a full-time Patient Coordinator to join the Northwest Optical team. This position is the first point of contact for patients in the Optical Department. Duties include greeting and assisting patients; responding to general optical inquiries, and coordinating the flow of patients to ensure World Class customer service. Represents EHN in a professional, friendly manner at all times.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

- Experience working in an optical environment preferred
Ophthalmic Technician
We have a full-time openings for an Ophthalmic Technician. This position will support our practice by assisting physicians in evaluation of patients’ ocular system, performing diagnostic tests and providing patient education to ensure quality care. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast paced, successful practice.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Detail-oriented with high level of accuracy in work
- Strong team player with the ability to effective coordinate work with others
- Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant or Ophthalmic Technician
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician COT is preferred
Network Technician
We have a full-time opening for a Network Technician. As part of our IT team, this position will provide technical support to our 14 locations within the Greater Portland Area. This position will also be responsible for assisting in planning, designing, implementing and maintaining a new Electronic Heath Records system for all our clinics. The successful candidate will be able to work a flexible work schedule, allowing system maintenance and upgrades that will be least disruptive to our patients and staff.
Job Responsibilities:
- Install/maintain/configure hardware, systems, and software for networks
- Support/monitor network security and bandwidth usage conditions
- Conduct performance testing of installed systems and network devices
- Resolve network system problems and plan for capacity
- Perform troubleshooting analysis of servers, workstations, printers, and associated systems
- Support and troubleshoot end-user help desk issues via phone, email, and/or onsite
- Ability to write documentation and procedures for technical support
- Document errors in computer programs, software, or network systems
- Monitor equipment or system operation and implement performance tuning
- Manage user accounts, permissions, email, anti-virus, anti-spam
- Interface with vendors and maintenance providers to service and maintain systems
- Perform other technical duties of similar nature and level
- Knowledge of network equipment relating to LAN/WAN/WLAN environments.
- Working knowledge of common operating systems (Windows 2000/XP/2003/2008/Windows 7, Linux, and AIX-UNIX) and software applications (MS Active Directory, Windows Office Suite, and web filtering programs).
- Knowledge of NextGen PM/EHR or other electronic medical records systems preferred.
- Demonstrate a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Flexibility in working at multiple location, and ability to travel between sites and lift/transport as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience as an IT technician or Help Desk agent.
- Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, and/or CNE is a plus
Retina Technician
We are seeking a full-time Retina Technician to join the Retina group. This is an Ophthalmic Technician working under the direction of the Retina Department Ophthalmologist. Must have strong Ophthalmic Technician skills and be proficient in, and perform fluorescein angiography and OCTs; may also perform Fundus Photography; must possess working knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, pathology and terminology.
The successful candidate will be a dedicated, reliable team player with effective communication skills; must be able to work extended hours as needed and be adaptable to changes in daily schedule; frequent in-town travel to various locations is required. Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) is preferred; Certified Retinal Angiographer (CRA) a plus.
Optician
We have a part-time opening for an Optician in our Hillsboro Clinic. This position will be scheduled 25 hours per week and will be responsible for providing world class customer service to patients by helping them find the right eyeglasses to fit their lifestyle and visual needs.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience as an Optician, be ABO certified, and possess the following qualifications:
- Outgoing and friendly personality
- Dependable team player
- Genuine desire to help people
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to sell high-end products
