Dr. Helena Tzou was born and raised in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and looked forward to going to her eye exam every year since she received her first pair of glasses at age 10. After attending the University of Pittsburgh, she graduated from Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry in Pomona, California. Then she completed a residency in pediatrics and vision therapy at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. Soon after residency, she became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO).
Dr. Tzou loves sharing stories with her patients of all ages from infants to seniors. After fitting her patients with contact lenses or managing ocular conditions, she enjoys listening to her patients and educating them on the latest eye care breakthroughs. In addition to volunteering at vision screenings and health fairs, Dr. Tzou participated in a Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity trip to Mexico where she and her team provided eye care and eyeglasses to the community.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Tzou can be found playing tennis, dancing, swimming, reading, listening to podcasts, and exploring the magnificent beauty of the Pacific Northwest. She likes attending musicals and ballets as well as visiting the art, history, and science museums whenever she travels to new cities. And every fall, she dusts off the black and gold to cheer for her hometown team- the Pittsburgh Steelers. She loves sharing a meal with her family and friends either at home or at one of the numerous Portland restaurants featuring cuisines from all around the world.
