Dr. Roland (“Dr. Nate”) was born in Texas and has familial roots in both the Southern and the Midwestern US. After graduating from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, he completed his residency at the Raymond G. Murphy VAMC in Albuquerque.
As a doctor, he believes that it is most important to listen to patient concerns and then tailor his exam to their needs. He has been awarded accolades for both his clinical approach & community involvement. He served as a Clinical Instructor at Pacific University in Forest Grove and is a member of the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association.
He has a wide range of interests. Growing up in a very musical family, he has a passion for music and the performing arts. He is a fan of marching bands & the Rose Parade. Most importantly, he is a dog person who has spent the last 19 years in the company of Corgis.

As part of your examination with us today, your pupils may be dilated. With dilation, most people experience light sensitivity and difficulty with near vision (such as reading). Some individuals also have difficulty seeing in the distance. The effects of the dilation can last several hours.
