Ronald M. Hampel, OD is the Eastside contact lens expert. He practices comprehensive optometry with an emphasis on complex contact lens challenges.

Dr. Hampel received a B.Sc. in physiology from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada and a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Regina, Canada. After a rewarding eight-year career with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, he decided to change course in life and become an Optometrist. He earned his optometry doctorate at Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, OR where he was a member of the optometric honors society and graduated with distinction

While at Pacific he was part of an Amigos Optometric Society volunteer trip to the West Bank and Gaza Strip performing vision examinations for hundreds of impoverished Palestinians. He hopes to travel abroad again to work with those in need of care in the poorer regions of the world. Dr. Hampel combines a healthy sense of humor and good nature with a passion for vision care.

Very happy with my first apt with Dr. Hampel. This was scheduled via a rush referral and I was scheduled quickly and office staff was so helpful and kind. Dr. Hampel has been by far the most informative and helpful provider I’ve seen for what is happening with my eyes and immediately knew what to test for and what was likely going on. He sent a referral to a specialist for further testing and I can’t thank him and his staff enough!
