Ophthalmic Technician
Under the direction of the Ophthalmologist, perform the full spectrum of technician responsibilities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Take and record patient medical histories.
- Prepare patients for examinations.
- Perform diagnostic tests that help ensure the accurate diagnosis and treatment of a diseased eye.
- Take anatomical and functional ocular measurements of the eyes.
- Provide patient education and respond to questions from patient and/or patient’s family.
- May scribe as required by physician.
- Clean and maintain equipment and instrumentation in good working condition; my perform minor repairs and adjustments as needed.
- Safeguard confidential medical information and perform work in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- One year experience is preferred but not required.
- Certified as a COA or COT is preferred.
- Enjoy helping others.
- Have strong customer service skills.
Patient Care Coordinator/Medical Receptionist
This position acts as the first point of contact for patients in the clinic.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and check them into the clinic.
- Efficiently manage patient flow into and out of the clinic in a manner that minimized patient wait times.
- Direct patients to appropriate areas.
- Update patient information and verifies appointment.
- Collect copayments and verify insurance; may verify referrals.
- May schedule follow-up appointments.
- Check patients out of the clinic.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Enjoy working with the public.
- Dependable team player.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in a medical environment and with Practice Management System are preferred.
Optician
Assist patients with selecting the right eyeglasses to fit their visual needs and lifestyle.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist patients in eyewear selections.
- Analyze and interpret prescriptions written by Ophthalmologists and Optometrists.
- Fix, adjust, and refit broken frames.
- Generate sales of eyeglasses and accessories.
- Educate patients on products and services that are available.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Outgoing and friendly personality.
- Dependable team player.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Experienced Optician with ABO Certification is preferred, or have the ability to become certified within 12 months of hire.
Surgery Coordinator
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate Ophthalmologists surgery schedules.
- Schedule preop and postop appointments with hospitals and surgery center.
- Schedule all diagnostic tests required prior to surgery.
- Perform insurance verifications / authorizations.
- Ensure completion of all paperwork and insurance authorizations.
- Provide customer service to patients via phone and during clinic visits.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Superior customer service skills.
- Highly organized with full attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience as a Surgery Coordinator is preferred.
