11 Optical Shops Featuring Bridge City Spex

See well. Feel great.

The optical world is constantly changing. In the last several years, an industry trend has taken place where large frame and lens manufacturers have acquired well-known brand names. Because of these mergers, frame brands have become more homogenized for mass production. As a result, the quality of mass-produced glasses has declined, all while becoming more expensive.

Ultimately, this means patients pay more and get less for their money. This is in sharp contrast to the values of EyeHealth Northwest. From producing custom lenses in our in-house laboratory, to offering locally-designed eyewear collections, we believe in providing better value to the people of Portland, without sacrificing quality.

Looking for new glasses in Portland, OR? As a patient at EyeHealth Northwest, you can trust us to provide:

  • Stylish frames to fit any prescription, face shape, or lifestyle
  • High quality, hand-crafted lenses
  • Superior service from board-certified opticians
  • Precise eye exams using state-of-the-art technology

Why do we have the best glasses in Portland, OR?

Since 2007, EyeHealth Northwest has made hand-crafted lenses in an in-house, state-of-the-art laboratory. Our doctors are dedicated to ensuring advanced lens technology is available to every patient. We invest in top-performing equipment from around the world to make sure the quality of your finished eyewear is the best it can be.

EyeHealth Northwest also proudly pairs hand-crafted lenses with a new line of frames produced here in Portland. Bridge City Spex is an original line of contemporary frames designed by our talented staff of eyecare experts.

Bridge City Spex Collection

In 2016, our optical team chose to combine fashion and functionality to design and source frames of superior quality. Our goal was to be thoughtful of how lens and frames work together to create elegant, finished eyewear. Using decades of optical expertise, customer feedback, and research in Portland eyewear trends, the Bridge City Spex Collection was born.

We’re able to provide quality frames at a phenomenal value because our patients invest in an artful, thoughtful, piece of eyewear from a local collection that represents the best of Portland. As Portland residents and “glasses nerds” ourselves, we live and breathe fashionable eyewear. It’s truly our pleasure to provide a collection of unique frames that match the vibrant culture of our great city.

We currently offer the following Bridge City Spex collections:

Heritage

The Bridge City Spex Heritage collection was released in October 2016. Bill MacGillivray, Master Optician and Director of Optical Operations at EyeHealth Northwest, worked with our optical team to design eight different frame styles. Each optician had their finger on the pulse of their community’s needs and wants, which contributed to a well-rounded eyewear collection.

Each frame in the Heritage collection is named after doctors at EyeHealth Northwest. The William, the Sonal, the David — each design tells an original story. The styles are time-tested shapes in face-flattering, richly colored acetates. Think blacks and browns with accents of coral-pink, light blue or olive green.

Heritage frames are built from the core to represent the EyeHealth Northwest commitment to quality care. To ensure durability, our frames have sturdy hinges and adhere to high manufacturing standards, making sure they are made to be worn through all of life’s experiences — in comfort and timeless style.

Synergy

As one of the largest ophthalmology groups on the West Coast, EyeHealth Northwest has deep partnerships that result in phenomenal synergy. Frames in the Synergy Collection emerge from natural collaborations with passionate frame designers from all over the world. Our collaborations allow us to leverage the expertise of master frame designers to communicate the modern Portland aesthetic. The end result is a curated eyewear collection that ensures you have the perfect frames for every day in the Rose City.

Lifestyle / Sport

Selecting glasses to protect your eyes from the sun, wind, rain, mud and flying objects is a tall order — add in aesthetics, and it’s even more difficult to find the perfect pair.

The Lifestyle Sport collection is designed to make sure everyone, with nearly any prescription, can see all that life is throwing at them. These frames are especially well-engineered to combine a highly functional frame and sport-specific lens. The Lifestyle Sport collection is ideal for active Portland residents, from coaches and athletes to law enforcement personnel and military members.

What will a complete pair of glasses cost?

From $119 on up depending on what you need. Our opticians can help you get the best value in your eyewear.

If I wear contacts why do I need a back-up pair of glasses?

It is very important to have a back-up pair of glasses in the event you have an eye health issue and cannot wear your contacts. Its also recommended to give your eyes a break from contacts in the evenings and weekends. If you travel it's also nice to have a back-up option in case you need it.

Why is a glasses prescription only good for 2 years?

Like any prescription, your doctor's RX will expire. You need to have regular eye exams as your vision can change as well as caring for the health of your eyes.

Are the chain store prices really lower?

No, in most cases only the advertised item is lower, to get what you want is often higher than everyday pricing.

What type of warranty comes with your glasses?

Most frames have a 1 year warranty for manufacturers defects (except Flexon frames, Safilo frames, and some children's frames). Lenses with a "premium" treatment (scratch or anti-reflective) added have a two year manufacturer warranty.

Do I need to leave my glasses with you if I’m getting new lenses?

It is always best to send in the frame to the lab to insure a perfect fit, we do have electronic frame tracers in all our stores which, in most cases, enables you to keep wearing your frames while waiting for new lenses. We are required to send in your frame to the lab if you are using either VSP or Spectera insurance, as they each have their own labs which set rules on using patients own frames.

If I don’t have my prescription can you call and get it for me?

We would be happy to call and have your prescription faxed to us. You will need to sign a records release form in accordance with HIPAA regulation.

Do I get a case with my glasses?
