Originally from Tehachapi, California, Dr. Coontz joined the United States Navy at 17 and served aboard submarines until 2017. Following his military service, he began his academic studies and discovered his passion for optometry. That journey led him to Pacific University College of Optometry, where he graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 2026.
Dr. Coontz is passionate about providing high-quality eye care and helping patients better understand and protect their vision. His background in military service and healthcare has shaped his approach to patient care, emphasizing communication, precision, and trust.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Coontz enjoys riding motorcycles, skiing/snowboarding, and spending time with his children
