Dr. Alexandra Bavasi believes that great eye care for kids starts with a big smile and a lot of patience. She is incredibly skilled at making eye exams feel like playtime, turning what could be a cold, clinical experience into an engaging, stress-free visit where parents feel heard and kids feel seen. She brings warmth, fun, and top-tier expertise to every exam chair.
Born and raised in Flagstaff, Arizona, Dr. Bavasi spent her childhood playing sports and exploring the state’s natural beauty. She moved across the country to play Division I volleyball at Sacred Heart University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Spanish. She then relocated to the Pacific Northwest to attend Pacific University College of Optometry, earning both her
Doctorate of Optometry and a concurrent Master of Education. To take her training to the next level, she completed a rigorous residency specializing in pediatric eye care and binocular vision management.
Since completing her residency, Dr. Bavasi has spent over a decade collaborating with Oregon’s top pediatric ophthalmologists. Her specialized clinical areas include:
• Comprehensive pediatric primary eye care
• Eye exams for humans of all ages with special needs
• Strabismus and amblyopia management
• Myopia control
• Soft contact lens fittings
• Careful refractions and prism assessments for adults with complex strabismus
In addition to her clinic work, Dr. Bavasi is passionate about mentoring the next generation of eye doctors. She serves as an adjunct clinical professor at Pacific University College of Optometry, guiding optometric interns in bolstering their pediatric exam skills.
When she’s not helping patients see their best, Dr. Bavasi keeps busy with an eclectic mix of hobbies. You can find her training for trail ultramarathons, Olympic-style weightlifting, practicing fiber arts, or spinning music as a DJ. She lives in Portland with her cool husband and sweet pets.
