Dr. Johnson was born on a farm in rural Ohio. He remained in Ohio for schooling, in which he completed an accelerated B.S./M.D program, obtaining his undergraduate degree at Kent State University, and his medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Kent State University, and as a student at NEOMED, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.
He completed his ophthalmology residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where he served as the surgical chief resident during his final year of training. He was also awarded “Most Exemplary Resident” during graduation.
Dr. Johnson’s interest in ophthalmology is rooted in motivation to maintain excellent quality of life for his patients. He feels honored to offer care to the Greater Portland community.
Outside of work, Dr. Johnson enjoys traveling, hiking, playing volleyball, exploring new restaurants & businesses, and spending time with his husband and their three dogs.
