Michael A. Page, MD, grew up in Dana Point, California. He received a BA in Human Biology at Stanford University in 2000, and a Masters in Sociology with an emphasis on healthcare organizations (also at Stanford) in 2001. He received his MD in 2006 from the University of Michigan, where he was awarded a 4-year merit-based full tuition Dean’s Scholarship, and also received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Clinical Skills and the Art of Medicine in 2006. Dr. Page completed an ophthalmology residency at the Casey Eye Institute / Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR in 2010. He then completed a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery, also at Casey Eye, in 2011.
Before his return to Oregon in 2019, Dr. Page spent the previous 8 years as Director of Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery as a faculty member in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN. During his tenure at UMN, Dr. Page served in several leadership roles in clinical operations, organizational compliance, and ophthalmic education. In addition to his busy clinical and surgical practice, Dr. Page was an active educator of dozens of ophthalmology residents and fellows, serving as Fellowship Director in Cornea and making numerous contributions to a very well regarded training program in the areas of ophthalmic knowledge and state of the art surgical techniques.
Dr. Page is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), Cornea Society, and the Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology. He serves on the AAO Knowledge Base Panel for Cornea and External Disease, and is an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has published several peer-reviewed papers on microbial keratitis, the use of femtosecond laser for corneal surgery, and ophthalmic genetics. In addition, he has published several book chapters on topics in corneal disease and spoken at many local, regional, and national meetings.
Dr. Page’s clinical interests include medical and surgical diseases of the cornea, external eye, iris, and lens. His practice includes routine and complex cataract surgery, refractive surgery (LASIK and PRK), surgical management of dislocated or problematic intraocular lenses, cornea transplantation (PK, DALK, DSEK, DMEK), ocular surface oncology, and surgical ocular surface reconstruction.
Outside of ophthalmology, Dr. Page loves spending time with his wife, their three children, and their dog Ziggy. He enjoys yoga, cycling, running and backpacking with friends in the great outdoors. Travel, books, and food are among his favorite topics of conversation.
