Dr. Julie Golinski was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She moved to Portland with her fiancé in 2021 and enjoys exploring the culture and outdoor activities of the Pacific Northwest. Dr. Golinski enjoys taking care of patient’s comprehensive eye care needs including routine exams, contact lenses, and ocular disease management.
Dr. Golinski completed her B.S. in biopsychology at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. Before attending optometry school she was a brain trauma researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital investigating repetitive concussions with grants from the National Institute of Health and National Football League Players Association. While she relished her time in the laboratory, Dr. Golinski decided to transition to optometry in order to work directly with patients. The brain and eye are intimately linked so it was only a small leap from neuroscience research to eye care.
Dr. Golinski graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry where she took a special interest in ocular disease and contact lenses. Dr. Golinski was president of the contact lens advancement society where she organized educational events for colleagues regarding the latest advancements in contact lens technology. Dr. Golinski then completed an ocular disease residency with the Veteran’s Health Administration in Columbus, Ohio. She regularly teaches continuing education courses to fellow optometrists regarding complex optometric management of ocular disease.
Dr. Golinski has no shortage of hobbies. She is an avid gardener, skier, and hiker. Dr. Golinski enjoys being outdoors as much as possible exploring all the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
