Dr. Peterson is originally from the Midwest, having spent the last ten years in St. Louis, Missouri. She moved to Portland in 2022 to explore all the Pacific Northwest offers.
Dr. Peterson earned her undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology. She worked for a few years at an engineering consulting firm before pursuing a career in optometry, led by a drive to personally make an impact on people’s lives through treatment, management, and education of ocular health as well as its link to the entire body. Dr. Peterson received her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Missouri at St. Louis in 2020. She cultivated her knowledge and interest in ocular disease and specialty contact lenses during her St. Louis VA Medical Center residency. With her passion for science and problem solving, combined with a strong desire to help people, she chose a career in optometry that perfectly blends her career passions.
Dr. Peterson has worn glasses since the age of four and a small stint in an eye patch for amblyopia through kindergarten. As a result, she understands the importance of routine eye exams and staying up to date on the latest research in her field for patients of all ages. Her special optometric interests include ocular disease, specialty contact lenses, and pediatric optometry.
Dr. Peterson loves meeting her patients and effectively communicating with them so they can have an active role in planning their optometric care and refractive solutions. In her free time, Dr. Peterson enjoys hiking, cycling, playing board games, exploring new breweries, and indulging in good food.
