Dr. Gattey practices comprehensive ophthalmology with a particular interest in complex cataract surgery and advanced lens implants. Dr. Gattey joined Oregon Eye Specialists in 2013 after practicing for 11 years with Casey Eye Institute at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). He now joins the EyeHealth Northwest group in 2022.
Dr. Gattey received his M.D. from the University of California at Davis and completed his ophthalmology residency at OHSU. He is board-certified in ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Gattey has trained dozens of residents and performed thousands of surgeries, including many conducted during outreach missions in Vietnam, India, Samoa, Peru, and elsewhere.
A former Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal, Dr. Gattey speaks fluent Spanish. He is a passionate soccer fan and a retired United States Soccer Federation referee, and he enjoys volunteering for various causes with his family.
